A faculty member at the University of Samarra contributes to enhancing women’s abilities to confront climate change

Professor Rana Ibrahim Khalil from the College of Engineering at the University of Samarra organized and delivered an awareness seminar for female employees at the Samarra Thermal Power Station. This initiative was in collaboration with the Training and Development Division and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the station, under the title “Engaging and Empowering Women’s Capacities in Facing the Risks of Climate Change and Environmental Pollution.”

In her seminar, Ibrahim aimed to enhance women’s understanding of climate change and environmental pollution, highlighting its impact on women and developing their skills to address environmental challenges and preserve the environment.

The lecture discussed the role of women and their active contribution to environmental conservation through participation in environmental initiatives and community projects. It also emphasized the necessity of developing women’s skills in implementing preventive measures to reduce pollution and climate change, particularly by teaching them adaptation skills to climate changes, such as learning sustainable agriculture and resource management.

Additionally, the seminar focused on the role of media in spreading awareness among community groups by intensifying media campaigns and disseminating them on social media platforms.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of encouraging women to innovate in the field of environmental solutions and green technology.
