The Dean of the College of Engineering delivers a specialized lecture on theory of elasticity to Master’s students

Post Graduate students (Master’s level) in the Department of Civil Engineering at Samarra University received a specialized scientific lecture on the subject of elasticity theory, delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Amjed Saleh Mahmood, Dean of the College of Engineering, as part of the academic program for the department’s students.

The lecture focused on enabling the student to understand the complex relationship between stress and strain based on Hooke’s general laws, and to derive the equations of equilibrium and compatibility for geometric bodies in two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces.

In a related context, other lectures explained the use of the stress function, which is a powerful analytical tool for solving plane problems, and analyzing basic cases such as bending, torsion, and compound strain, as well as clarifying the fundamental differences between theories of elasticity and plasticity, and showing the limits of the validity of the different assumptions of linear and non-linear elasticity.
