Seminar at the College of Engineering Discusses Society’s Responsibility in Environmental Protection
The College of Engineering at the University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar titled “Environmental Awareness: A Shared Responsibility to Protect Our Future”, presented by Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah and two postgraduate students from the college.
The seminar addressed the importance of the environment and the impact of pollution on human health and ecological balance. It also discussed strategies to reduce pollution and the roles of individuals and institutions in preserving natural resources.
In the same context, the presenters explored various types of environmental pollution, including air, water, and soil pollution, and their effects on ecosystems. They also presented some innovative solutions to mitigate these problems, most notably the adoption of renewable energy technologies, recycling, and improving resource consumption efficiency.
Dr. Najm also highlighted the role of individuals in protecting the environment by reducing waste, using eco-friendly transportation, and adopting sustainable lifestyles.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was the emphasis on spreading environmental awareness in society and promoting a culture of environmental protection as a collective responsibility. This requires collaboration among educational institutions, civil society, and individuals to achieve a more sustainable future.
It is worth noting that this seminar aligns with one of the objectives of the National Initiative for Energy, Water, and Emission Reduction, which emphasizes “spreading awareness and education among employees and students in the field of energy and environmental sustainability.”
