College of Engineering

The foundation of the Engineering College was in the 2012-2013 academic year. It is proceeding confidently with hard work. It is a nascent college with three departments: the Department of Architecture, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Electromechanics.

The Engineering College was established to develop the University of Samarra, expand its scientific components, achieve scientific integration, and take advantage of the constituents and energies available in the university’s geographical environment, including the applied institutions represented by the General Company for Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies and thermal electric power generation facilities on the one hand, in the middle of it is the broadest archaeological and heritage surroundings filled with archaeological monuments and ancient heritage symbols, represented by the urban planning content of Sur Man Raa city Abbasid, which spread over a geographical area of 34 km and an average width of 4 km. Still, it is a world-class architectural, archaeological feature in the heritage list Islamic in UNESCO. To provide the engineering cadres to Salah Al-Din Governorate, the college started its departments: the Department of Architectural Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Electromechanics.

Engineering Consulting Office

The Engineering Consulting Office at the College of the Engineering is the leading advisory office at the university as it is the first consulting office to be established at the University of Samarra based on the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research respected, No. 12S / 1784 on 17/11/2015.

This office was found to provide all the foundations of its establishment, which distinguishes it from the rest of the engineering consulting offices in the central region of the country, as all engineering colleges do not have the architecture department. Which is the central pillar of the engineering work consulting offices concerning the design aspect of buildings, installations, and city planning, which is something that distinguished our office as the Department of Architecture has many architectural design competencies, led by the dean of the Engineering College (Prof. Dr. Rashid Hamid Yassin). Besides, there are highly experienced competencies in conducting designs such as structural designs for buildings and installations, health services designs, designs of sewage systems and drinking water systems, drinking water booster stations, electrical designs for buildings, electrical projects, mechanical drawings and related to refrigeration and air conditioning systems and other aspects of mechanical engineering in addition to road designs. There are topological surveys staff and economic and technical feasibility studies for engineering projects; these aspects enabled the consulting office to prepare for the engineering supervision on the implementation of most engineering projects with high efficiency.

As for engineering examinations in the college’s laboratories, the college is finalizing the necessary approvals to open it, noting the possibility of conducting soil tests at present.
Despite the novelty of the consulting office at the Engineering College, it has completed many projects during this year, including soil testing projects, initial engineering designs for investment projects, and economic and technical feasibility studies for it.
