College of Archaeology

The establishment of the College of Archeology was in 2010 according to Ministerial Order No. 4/1697 on 12/13/2010; it is one of the essential colleges at the Iraqi universities level in comparison to the archeology colleges in Iraq. The choice of the college in Samarra city comes to its historical and civilizational depth, and it is classified internationally in the sequence (12) in UNESCO.

The college strives to advance the scientific reality and upgrades by providing the requirements for success, securing systematic and sourcebooks, providing teaching staff, and setting plans for scientific seminars and conferences.

Vision, Mission, and Goals
A- Study the discovered monuments and determine their periods.
B- Encouraging excavation of undiscovered monuments, which are numerous and extend over a wide area and extend to a different historical era.
C- Preparing qualified scientific staff for exploration, maintenance, and restoration.
W – Investing the religious and archeological sites of tourist sites to serve their development and financing.
H- Establishing an electronic library follows the latest scientific methods for indexing and organizing sources, manuscripts, and references to serve as an information bank.
M- Educating the community about the need to pay attention to their history and civilization.
D- Opening the prospects for scientific, academic, and historical cooperation with universities, archaeological, regional and international institutions to carry out joint campaigns for exploration and restoration.
I- Within the college goals, building the best scientific and archaeological cooperation relations with UNESCO, which is responsible for keeping world history.

Tourist Archeology Advisory Office\ College of Archaeology
The Tourism Archeology Consultative Office founded in 2016 after obtaining approval by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The consulting office established to meet the needs of the investment market in Salahuddin Governorate for many advisory services in the archeological fields and tourism investment. In addition to training and organizational development services in institutions, the public and private sector, the consulting office creation came based on the availability of administrative and engineering staff. The office includes in its membership some university professors who possess outstanding experience and scientific qualifications to provide the mentioned services.

The tourist advisory office provides many consulting and training services in the archeology fields, tourism and administration to state institutions and the private sector, including:

1- Economic and technical feasibility studies in establishing the tourism projects field.
2- Technical designs and project consultations in the tourism work field.
3- Granting leaves lands suspected of being archaeological, in coordination with the Samarra Antiquities Monitor.
4- Providing advice on excavations, maintenance, and monuments restoration.
5- Holding training courses in various fields aimed at developing human resources working in the tourist and educational institutions, for example:

A. Courses to develop administrative skills and public decrees art (etiquette).
B. Creative teaching skills courses.
C. Classes for managing art tourism institutions.
D. Courses for the preparation and development of tour guides and skills for dealing with tourists.

6- Coordination of work between the University of Samarra, employment offices for the workforce in the tourism field.
7- Holding festivals, conferences, and scientific seminars in archeology and tourism fields.
