Big news: The University of Samarra jumps more than 5,500 points in the world rankings webometrics

The President of Samarra University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Allawi, announced that the University of Samarra has made big progress in the Spanish webometrics classification. Samarra University ranked 10227 after it was ranked 15774 last January, it ranks 47th locally, down from 52 last January.

Note that the university was ranked 25,000 globally two years ago and was ranked the last locally. We note that the number of Iraqi universities is 131 public and private universities.

It is noteworthy that the Spanish webometrics classification is one of the classifications approved by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, and it is the largest system for evaluating international universities, covering more than 31,000 universities and it is issued in Spain by the Higher Council for Scientific Research. The assessment aims to improve the online presence of higher education and scientific research institutions and encourage the publication of peer-reviewed scientific articles in an open-access manner. It is a semi-annual evaluation, issues in January and July of each year, and is based on measuring the performance of universities through their websites within the following criteria:

1- Site size: It means the size of a group of automatically linked pages in one site, and the standard percentage is 20%.

2- Rich files: files related to documents and text information, where the number of files of different types in the search engine and belong to the university’s website. The percentage of this standard is 15%.

3- Google Scholars: It means searching for scientific material in Google Scholar, including refereed research, reports, letters, and summaries in various scientific topics, in addition to pictures, films, maps, and others published electronically under the scope of the university’s website. The standard ratio is also 15%.

4- Links and appearance: It means the hyperlinks that lead the visitor to the site on the Internet, through search engines, and the appearance of the university’s website with these engines, and the percentage of the criterion is 50%.
