Participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Ibrahim in the Conference of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers
Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Ibrahim Khalil – Teaching – at the College of Engineering at Samarra University, participated in the activities of the conference “Environment and Climate Change in the Equality and Empowerment Agenda for Iraqi Women,” organized under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers – represented by the Iraqi Women Empowerment Department – and in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme. The event was held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in the presence of many Iraqi and international specialists.
Ibrahim’s participation came in her paper entitled “Women’s Role in Addressing the Declining Green Cover,” which included afforestation campaigns organized in Samarra city in general and Samarra University in particular, and encouragement for the afforestation process, especially since Samarra city suffers from a lack of green cover.
It concluded with recommendations that lead to the development of a practical and scientific mechanism for the afforestation process, the selection of appropriate places and the provision of plants suitable for the conditions of Iraq’s climate, as well as the training of technical personnel on the correct afforestation mechanism and methods; To ensure its success, sustainability and spread.
