The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Students’ Dress from the Perspective of Modesty and Respect”, presented by Dr. Mohammed Madlol Mohammed and Assistant Lecturer Jassim Ahmed Hassan.
The speakers focused on the concept of moderate academic dress as an integral part of university identity, linking it to higher moral values such as modesty and mutual respect within and beyond the university campus.
The lecturers explained the role of personal appearance in enhancing academic discipline and contributing to the creation of an optimal educational environment characterized by seriousness and focus, positively reflecting on students’ academic progress. This, in turn, presents a civilized image of students and contributes to enhancing the overall image of the educational institution.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the organizers urged students to adhere to appropriate dress, conveying a clear and unified message that academic attire is not merely a formal obligation, but rather a reflection of the student’s values and respect for themselves and their academic environment. Modest appearance is an inseparable part of a mature university identity and directly contributes to building an educational atmosphere based on respect and commitment.
