The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Sanctity of Blood in Religion,” delivered by Dr. Mohammed Madlul Mohammed and Assistant Lecturer Jassim Ahmed Hassan.
The speakers explained that aggression against the human soul constitutes an assault on humanity as a whole, particularly from a legal and jurisprudential perspective. They emphasized that safeguarding lives is a fundamental pillar for the establishment of religion and the preservation of intellect and lineage.
Dr. Madlul affirmed the sanctity and dignity of the human soul and the right to life in divine laws and heavenly religions, especially Islam, which strictly prohibits the shedding of blood and upholds the value of the human being from both legal and jurisprudential viewpoints.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hassan clarified that Islam has established a strict protective framework to safeguard lives by prohibiting killing in all its forms and forbidding intimidation or threats, blocking all means that could lead to the taking of life. He also highlighted the gravity of the crime of murder, noting that bloodshed is the first matter to be judged on the Day of Resurrection, reflecting the magnitude of responsibility.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the speakers stressed that preserving lives in the present era requires sound religious awareness and firm application of the law, particularly in confronting extremist thought and reinforcing the values of tolerance and respect for human life.
