Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Eleiwi Publishes Renewable Energy Research in Scopus and Clarivate Databases
Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Eleiwi, a faculty member in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Samarra, has published a collaborative research paper in the journal Applied Water Science. This work was conducted in cooperation with researchers from several Iraqi universities (Karbala, Middle Technical University, Al-Mustaqbal, Al-Ameed, University of Technology, and Basra University of Oil and Gas), alongside international researchers from the University of Gävle in Sweden, the University of Gabès in Tunisia, and the Ural Federal University in Russia.
The research is titled: “Advances in pyramid solar stills: a comprehensive review of sustainable water desalination innovations.”
The study provides a comprehensive review of recent developments in pyramid solar stills, focusing on the impact of internal and external modifications and hybrid systems in enhancing productivity and sustainability. It also offers a critical evaluation of the limitations of traditional designs and proposes developmental solutions.
The results demonstrated significant performance improvements, noting that Phase Change Materials (PCMs) increased productivity by 35% to 101.5%, while nanoparticles improved efficiency by 6.1% to 54.4%. Furthermore, external modifications raised the yield by up to 194% with a thermal efficiency reaching 62.4%, while hybrid systems achieved improvements of up to 166%, despite remaining challenges in integration and scalability for large-scale applications.
It is noteworthy that the journal is ranked within the first quartile (Q1) in both Scopus and Clarivate databases. It is published by the renowned international German publishing house, Springer Nature, and boasts a CiteScore of 11.2 and an Impact Factor of 5.7.
In this regard, the Deanship of the College of Engineering—represented by the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Amjed Saleh Mahmood —congratulates the faculty member on this scientific achievement, wishing him continued success and excellence in his research career.
