Department of Life Sciences Organizes a Seminar on Countering Violent Extremism and Promoting Community Peace
The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar entitled “Strategies for Countering Violent Extremism and Promoting Community Peace.” The seminar was delivered by Dr. Abdullah Najm Abdullah and Dr. Hiba Mohammed Taha, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University Presidency.
The presenters sought to introduce the proposed strategies for enhancing dialogue and understanding among different segments of society by encouraging constructive discussions that contribute to consolidating mutual respect and acceptance of diversity.
Dr. Abdullah pointed to the necessity of economic empowerment through supporting local projects and providing job opportunities, in a way that contributes to achieving economic and social stability, in addition to strengthening community participation by involving individuals in decision-making at the local level.
Dr. Hiba concluded the seminar with a set of recommendations, most notably emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of successful expertise and experiences among countries and relevant institutions, in a manner that strengthens joint global efforts to combat violent extremism and consolidate the foundations of peace. She also stressed the importance of education and awareness in promoting the values of human rights, democratic principles, and cultural diversity, given their pivotal role in building societal awareness.
