Dean of the College of Agriculture Participates in Doctoral Dissertation Defense at Diyala University

Professor Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al-Sahr, Dean of the College of Agriculture at Samarra University, chaired the doctoral dissertation defense committee held at the College of Agriculture, Diyala University.

The dissertation, titled “Recording and Documenting the Genetic Fingerprint of Some Date Palm Varieties Cultivated in Diyala Governorate,” was presented by student Sadiq Lafteh Hussein. The study focused on documenting the genetic fingerprint of date palm varieties to establish their genetic identity and preserve it within international scientific databases.

This study reflects the importance of date palm genetic resources and their role in supporting future genetic and production studies, given the significant contribution these varieties make to improving date palm productivity and date quality.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture at Samarra University’s participation is part of an effort to strengthen scientific cooperation among Iraqi universities and exchange academic expertise, thereby supporting scientific research and serving the agricultural sector in Iraq.
