University of Samarra cooperates with Samarra Municipality to recycle inorganic waste

The University of Samarra announced its success in reducing inorganic waste production from 110 tons to 95 tons during the past year, through reuse and recycling methods that included paper, hard plastics, and soft plastics.
The university explained that recycling operations were carried out in cooperation with the Samarra Municipality and several local companies, following a strategy based on sorting and processing to achieve up to 99% efficiency.

The university noted that inorganic waste includes various materials such as broken glass, metal utensils, plastics, batteries, and medical equipment, stressing that these efforts are part of its plan to enhance environmental sustainability and reduce the negative impact of waste on society and the environment.

Additionally, through the CBRN Committee, the university continued its efforts to strengthen chemical, biological, and radiological safety measures by holding meetings and training sessions aimed at ensuring the safe handling of hazardous materials inside laboratories.
