University of Samarra Increases Research Funding with Strong Focus on Sustainability
The University of Samarra has announced a strategic expansion of its research budget between 2024 and 2026, with total funding rising from USD 3.9 million in 2024 to USD 4.5 million in 2026. Of this amount, between USD 1.1 million and 1.3 million annually was dedicated to sustainability research.
The university emphasized that this reflects its commitment to global research standards, with approximately 28.3% of its total research budget allocated to green initiatives, eco-friendly technological innovations, and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These efforts include supporting STEM laboratories, humanities academic outputs, and international peer-reviewed publishing.
