Welcoming speech by the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics

We, the Deanship of the College of Administration and Economics, are committed to empowering our students with the ability to innovate and create, planting the seeds for transforming ideas into successful projects, sustainable institutions, and thriving enterprises. We achieve this by equipping our students with the skills and competencies necessary for effective management and ethical leadership across all sectors of the labor market. The college grants a Bachelor’s degree in its two primary disciplines: Business Administration and Economics. Given the volatile and rapidly changing nature of the regional job market, which significantly influences business education and our academic curriculum, we are dedicated to the continuous review, assessment, and development of our programs and teaching methodologies. Our goal is to enhance the capabilities of our graduates and prepare them with the tools needed to meet the ever-evolving demands of the labor market, respond effectively to societal challenges, and address the barriers hindering the fulfillment of its needs. In this context, we take pride in our college’s accomplishments, especially in fostering new specialists in entrepreneurship and innovation, opening doors for aspiring individuals from within Iraq and beyond. We also take great pride in our distinguished faculty—an elite group of seasoned researchers and professors who work tirelessly as a unified team to deliver creative, comprehensive, and impactful educational experiences to our students. Furthermore, the high-quality research outputs produced by our faculty and undergraduate students contribute to the ongoing enrichment of knowledge and create a positive impact on the business community. The past few years have revealed profound global challenges facing the economy and society, such as unsustainable business practices, inflation, and political instability—challenges that require urgent and strategic responses. It is important to note that the purpose of business today transcends the mere creation of economic or financial value; it also encompasses the generation of social and environmental value. Our faculty members are deeply devoted to inspiring and educating our students not only to create financial impact but also to drive positive change and address the pressing issues of our time. Therefore, we, the Deanship of the College, extend an invitation to the budding leaders of our society—those with a passion for leadership and innovation—to join the College of Administration and Economics. Here, they will become part of a vibrant, interconnected network and an empowering community that prepares them to lead organizations and institutions. We are proud to see many of our graduates holding top leadership positions across a wide array of sectors, and many others emerging as successful entrepreneurs contributing to the growth and prosperity of Iraq’s economy and business landscape.
