About the Department:
The Department of Geography at the University of Samarra – College of Education for Science was established in 2011-2012. It is an educational and research institution entrusted with the development and dissemination of knowledge in various fields of geographical sciences. The department provides opportunities for university education for students enrolled in it to prepare them for a distinguished scientific preparation. Master’s degree. The department has three laboratories, which are the Maps Laboratory, the GIS Laboratory, the Geomorphology and Climate Laboratory, and an advanced climatological station.

Raising the academic and research level to keep pace with scientific progress and the requirements of society, and to reach a local and regional leadership position through which it aspires to excellence and enrichment of knowledge, research and scientific publishing, as well as effective teaching in all fields of geographical sciences.

Developing the scientific process and advancing the methods of scientific research through strategic planning and a clear vision of the department’s mission at the level of Iraq, communicating with its institutions at home and abroad, and introducing an advanced methodology to meet the various needs of society.
Department Goals:
The department seeks to achieve the following objectives:
1- Linking geographical curricula to the actual needs of the labor market in the present and the future, in a way that will benefit society in its various fields.
2. Excellence in higher education, scientific research and community service.
3. Develop and achieve ways to ensure the quality of performance and outputs.
4. Optimal use of modern technologies in education and scientific research.
5. Attracting the best faculty members, researchers and students.
6. Develop the language of communication inside and outside the college and communicate with the various sectors of the local community.
7. Attention to development and training programs to raise the efficiency of the department’s graduates.
8. Preparing specialists in geographical sciences with the following capabilities:
A – Excellence in good scientific research based on sound scientific methodology.
B – Good scientific preparation to work as university teachers and teachers in the Ministry of Education.
C – Good scientific preparation to work as specialists in the Ministry and relevant state institutions.
9- Preparing an academic generation that bears the responsibility of preparing and educating future generations. 10 – Develop the student’s abilities to know, understand and apply modern scientific curricula and master the basic skills to continue teaching himself by himself.
11- Spreading the culture of quality and creating a spirit of positive competition, with the aim of improving performance.
12- Developing the capabilities of graduate students, raising their scientific and research efficiency, and encouraging them to think and analyze.
