The Department was established in the academic year 2017-2018 and is the third department in the College of Engineering – University of Samarra with the Departments of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The department accepts distinguished graduates of middle school in its biological and applied branches.
The goal of establishing the department was for the purpose of developing the College of Engineering at the young Samarra University, expanding its scientific position, and meeting the urgent needs of many industrial sectors in Iraq for qualified graduates who combine the majors of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering and benefit from the ingredients and energies available in the geographical surroundings of Samarra University, including institutions, such as the General Company for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliances, electric power generation facilities (thermal, hydroelectric, diesel), refineries and power transmission networks.

Emerging as a leading department in the field of electromechanical engineering that meets the growing needs in its field of specialization in order to be distinguished among reputable universities.
The message :
Preparing engineers and researchers in the field of electromechanical engineering at a distinguished level of knowledge, keeping abreast of developments in the rapid development in this field, and adhering to professional ethics.
