Assistant Professor Dr. Ohoud Muzahim Shaker, professor in the Department of Pathological Analysis, published a paper within Scopus containers.
The study aimed to study: the effect of infection with Toxocara cati parasite on the immune status of cats infected with this worm and its effect on the liver, kidney, and skeletal muscle tissues. It was found that there was an immunological effect by the rise of interleukin 10 in infected animals and the tissue affected by the parasite larvae, which led to the enlargement of the Malpighi tubes in the kidneys while the Malpighi corpuscle shrunk. As for the liver tissue, it was more damaged than the kidney tissue. As for the muscles, some pieces of skeletal muscle fibers appeared.
