A panel discussion at the University of Samarra reviews the history of the Samarra Museum

 

The Arts College at the University of Samarra held a panel discussion on the historical stages of the establishment and Samarra Museum’s development from its establishment until today.
Dr. Ghassan Mustafa Ali – Head of the Archeology Department – at the college gave the seminar topic, in which he addressed the cultural importance of the museum, which is one of the oldest museums established in Iraq after the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad, especially since the museum building is one of the gates of the city’s archaeological wall.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the Samarra Museum and its historical study; Being part of the city in the Ottoman era, and architecture being the last remaining part of the wall, and an attempt by Samarra University to show the importance of the museum and to return it to its previous era and to open it to include the city’s holdings.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Azzawi Muhammad – Dean – of the College of Arts, his administrative assistant, Mr. Mahdi Abdul Hamid Hussein, and some interested professors attended the session.
