Chemistry Department Faculty Member Publishes a Scientific Article on the Integrated Analysis of Blood Biomarkers in Multiple Sclerosis
Dr. Bakr Ismail Jasim, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a scientific article in The Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery, published by Springer Nature and indexed in Scopus within the second quartile (Q2).
The article is entitled: “Integrated Analysis of Blood Biomarkers in Multiple Sclerosis: A Case–Control Study of Neurofilament Light Chain, Inflammatory Markers, and Vitamin D3 Levels.”
The study aimed to analyze a range of blood biomarkers in patients with multiple sclerosis, including indicators of neuronal damage such as Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL), inflammatory markers such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as Vitamin D3 levels.
The findings demonstrated that combining these biomarkers provides a more accurate assessment of disease severity and progression compared with relying on each marker individually. The study highlights the potential for developing integrated diagnostic models capable of improving the prediction of different stages of the disease.
