Department of Chemistry Organizes an Extracurricular Activity on the Side Effects of Anabolic Hormones

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized an extracurricular activity entitled “The Side Effects of Anabolic Hormones.” The activity was presented by Dr. Iman Abbas Mohammed and Assistant Lecturer Hamza Riyadh Abdulhamid, with the participation of first-year students.

The activity aimed to highlight the dangers of using anabolic hormones on human health in the long term, particularly steroids used by some athletes and bodybuilders to increase muscle mass.

The organizers explained the negative effects of anabolic hormones on growth and development, especially among adolescents, such as their impact on normal bone growth, as well as psychological effects including a false sense of superiority, mood swings, and aggressive behavior.
