Physics Department Organizes a Training Workshop on Scientific Mathematics

The Physics Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized a training workshop entitled “Scientific Mathematics for Department Students”, presented by Dr. Donia Abdulhamid Hassan.

The workshop aimed to focus on the pivotal role of mathematics in understanding and interpreting physical laws, as it is considered the primary tool on which physics relies to describe natural phenomena, ranging from quantum mechanics to general relativity.

The lecturer emphasized that learning physics is not limited to comprehending physical concepts alone; rather, it requires mastering the language through which physical information is processed, namely mathematical principles, due to their direct impact on deepening students’ scientific understanding. In addition, she presented the fundamental mathematical principles that physics students need throughout their stages of study, including concepts of calculus and differential equations, with a focus on various methods of solving integrals, supported by applied examples illustrating their uses in diverse physical fields.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of organizing such scientific activities was emphasized, as they contribute to developing students’ skills and strengthening the integration of mathematical knowledge with physics, which positively reflects on their academic and research performance.
