Under the banner “Our Archeology, Our Identity and History” the University of Samarra holds the second international scientific conference

 

The College of Archeology at the University of Samarra held its second international scientific conference on Monday, 2/11/2020, with the title ((Utilizing antiquities and heritage to serve sustainable development in Iraq)), with the participation of 50 researchers from inside and outside Iraq and from various Iraqi universities (Samarra University, Baghdad University, Salah al-Din University in Erbil, Qadisiyah University, Kufa University, Mosul University, and the Great Imam University College, as well as the participation of the Commission Public Antiquities and Heritage).
This conference dealt with eight aspects. The first was devoted to studying (the landmarks of the civilizational and archaeological heritage in Iraq and ways to employ them to serve sustainable development). The second aspect dealt with (exploiting the archaeological reality as a permanent resource for economic development), and the third aspect talked about (ways to develop means in support of archaeological tourism ( Media – Infrastructure – Human Resources), while the fourth aspect focused on (the role of cultural heritage, antiquities and museums in developing cultural awareness and strengthening national identity), while the fifth aspect dealt with (employing geographic and climatic nature in highlighting the importance of archaeological sites), while the sixth aspect was devoted To clarify (the relationship of urban planning to cultural heritage sites in Iraq), while the seventh aspect dealt with (the role of engineering techniques in preserving the architectural heritage in Iraq), while the eighth aspect addressed (the importance of the historical aspect of world heritage sites in Iraq).
