The President of the University of Samarra congratulates in the International Day of the Arabic Language

The eighteenth of December of each year coincides with global celebrations of the International Day of the Arabic Language.

On this occasion, the President of the University of Samarra, Prof. Dr. Sabah Allawi Al-Samarrai, extends his best wishes and blessings to the Arab and Islamic nations and all Arabic speakers.

It is noteworthy that this was the day when the United Nations decided in 1973 to adopt the Arabic language as an official language. Then UNESCO made it the International Day of Arabic.

Al-Samarrai said (Arabic is considered one of the oldest languages and the most vocabulary, as its history spans more than 18 centuries, and its words exceed twelve million words).

Today, more than 488 million people speak the Arabic language, and it is the language of worship for more than one and a half billion Muslims in the world.
