Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Fadhil Shaker, a faculty member in the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a scientific paper in the Earth and Environmental Science journal in the United Kingdom, indexed in the Scopus database (Q4).
Dr. Shaker presented his research entitled “Impact of Environmental Factors on the Water Quality of Tharthar Lake, West of Samarra, Salah al-Din, Iraq.”
The study aimed to monitor and analyze the water quality of Tharthar Lake, located west of the city of Samarra in Salah al-Din Governorate, by collecting water samples once a month from each monitoring station to evaluate a set of physical and chemical parameters affecting water quality.
The results showed that water transparency ranged between 467 and 784 cm at the first station, and between 452 and 778 cm at the second station, with the lowest transparency values recorded in January. In addition, the highest sulfate concentrations were recorded in April, while the highest chloride concentrations were observed in February, reflecting the influence of environmental and seasonal factors on the lake’s water quality.
