College of Engineering Deanship Holds an Extensive Meeting to Discuss Academic and Educational Pathways and Examination Preparations

The Opinion Committee at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, held an extensive meeting chaired by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Amjed Saleh Mahmood, accompanied by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Mohammed Abdul-Jabbar Hassan, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed. The meeting witnessed an active attendance from the teaching faculty.
The Dean inaugurated the session by reciting Surat Al-Asr, drawing inspiration from its values of solidarity and mutual exhortation to truth, aiming to elevate educational outcomes and graduate an elite group of engineers capable of leading field work with high efficiency. He then delivered a comprehensive speech centered on several fundamental pillars, starting with the academic aspect, in which he emphasized the necessity of updating scientific curricula to keep pace with global developments and diversifying teaching methods to ensure that knowledge reaches students in the most effective manner.
Furthermore, the Dean stressed strict adherence to scientific research ethics and the publication of high-impact research. He simultaneously called for enhancing inter-departmental cooperation among scientific departments and faculty members—particularly senior academic title holders—to produce research that serves society and addresses its practical challenges.
In the educational context, the Dean highlighted the importance of maintaining moral discipline and a fair, paternalistic approach toward students. He emphasized the need to listen to their concerns and guide them while upholding scientific prestige and professional boundaries to ensure the integrity of the professor-student relationship. He also directed full compliance with administrative instructions and close cooperation with department heads and specialized units, concluding his remarks by urging the faculty to seize all opportunities to provide aid and support to students in their scientific and humanitarian journeys.
For his part, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed, provided a detailed presentation coinciding with the upcoming final examinations. He urged strict commitment to the proctoring schedule and time management, emphasizing the importance of thorough knowledge and precise application of examination instructions and manuals. He also reviewed the professional standards for designing exam questions, which must be chronologically balanced with the answering time, noting the necessity of arriving well before the start of exams and avoiding side conversations during proctoring to ensure a quiet environment for students, while clarifying the strict legal mechanisms for handling cases of academic dishonesty.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a dialogue session was opened to hear the views and suggestions of the teaching staff, where several solutions aimed at overcoming obstacles facing both the educational and administrative processes were discussed.
The Dean concluded the meeting by praising the strenuous efforts exerted by the teaching staff, which have resulted in the graduation of engineers who have proven their merit in various state institutions. He directed the heads of scientific departments to closely monitor student levels and success rates to ensure a continuous upward trajectory in the college’s academic performance.
In a gesture of appreciation, the Dean of the College of Engineering expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Deanship of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, valuing their hospitality in hosting the Opinion Committee meeting in their discussion hall. This reflects the spirit of integration and brotherly cooperation between the university’s colleges, especially in light of the ongoing reconstruction and development campaign within the College of Engineering.
