Female Faculty Member in the Department of History Publishes a Scientific Article in an International Journal

Dr. Baydaa Shehab Ahmed, a faculty member in the Department of History at the College of Education for Humanities – University of Samarra, has published a scientific article entitled “The Soviet Union’s Stance on the 1973 War” in Issue No. 2.413 of the international scientific journal Internauka, issued on January 23, 2026.

The article focuses on the decisive role of the Soviet Union in supporting Egypt during the October 1973 War, reviewing the military and diplomatic support provided, including supplying the Egyptian army with modern weapons, dispatching military experts, and offering extensive logistical support, in addition to diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict and negotiate with the United States.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized in her article the outcomes of the war, including the crossing of the Suez Canal, the high efficiency demonstrated by the Arab fighter, and the strategic lessons related to the importance of international support for smaller states in confronting costly conflicts.
