The Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Samarra organized an awareness seminar titled “Plastic-Free University,” delivered by a third-year student in the department, Abdullah Safaa Shamil. The seminar was held as part of student activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and strengthening the culture of environmental preservation within the
university campus.
The seminar reviewed the risks of excessive use of plastic materials and their negative impacts on the environment and public health, while highlighting the importance of adopting environmentally friendly alternatives and reducing plastic waste within educational institutions, in addition to promoting a culture of responsible consumption among students.
The student lecturer distributed awareness leaflets to the college students, which included a set of practical guidelines that contribute to reducing the use of plastic and encourage the adoption of positive environmental behaviors inside and outside the university. This reflects the spirit of initiative and responsibility among the students of the Department of History and their keenness to actively contribute to serving the community.
The Department of History praised these distinguished student initiatives that contribute to spreading environmental culture among students, affirming its support for such purposeful activities that enhance the role of students in building a healthy and sustainable university environment, and wishing the student lecturer continued success and achievement.
