Department of Chemistry Organizes a Scientific Course on the Fundamentals and Techniques of Water Treatment in Industrial Processes
The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized a scientific course entitled “Fundamentals and Techniques of Water Treatment in Industrial Processes,” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Huda Matar Ibrahim.
The course aimed to focus on the scientific foundations adopted in industrial water treatment and to outline the main treatment stages, including the removal of suspended solids, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. It also introduced the most prominent modern technologies used to ensure water quality and enhance its efficient use in the industrial sector.
In the same context, Matar reviewed the key technologies adopted in this field, such as membrane technologies (reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, and ultrafiltration), ion exchange, biological treatment, thermal processes, and advanced oxidation, highlighting their role in reducing pollutants, protecting equipment, and achieving environmental sustainability.
The course concluded with a set of recommendations, most notably the implementation of effective treatment systems for boiler water, cooling water, and industrial process water, due to their significant impact on improving production efficiency, reducing operational costs, and preserving water resources and the environment.
