Two faculty members from the Department of Creed and Islamic Thought at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Samarra, have recently published a joint research paper in Al-Farabi Journal for Humanities entitled “The Introduction to the Tafsir of Abu Hayyan al-Andalusi: A Descriptive and Methodological Study.”
The research was authored by Professor Dr. Taj al-Din Amjad Abdul-Munim and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Abbas Yaseen. The study focused on clarifying the methodological framework adopted by Abu Hayyan al-Andalusi and examining the extent to which he adhered to the principles he set for himself in his introduction.
The paper is considered a scholarly service contribution, benefiting both the original work and its readers, as it highlights the significant efforts of this eminent Qur’anic exegete and presents his methodology in a simplified manner accessible to researchers.
The study concluded that Abu Hayyan al-Andalusi stands among the great exegetes of the Holy Qur’an and represents a model of scholarly objectivity, characterized by fairness and distance from bias and personal inclination. The researchers recommended conducting further studies to reveal the scientific value of such monumental works and classical compilations.
