Professors at Samarra University Publish a Scientific Research Paper in a Journal Indexed in Scopus

A group of professors from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Samarra University published a scientific research paper in the journal \\\”Human Sport and Exercise Sciences\\\” issued by the Spanish Association for Sports Performance Analysis, classified in the third quartile (Q3) in the Scopus database.

The research paper was titled \\\”A Study of the Effect of FTO Gene Polymorphisms on Physical Performance Indicators and Response to Weight Loss Programs in Obese Athletes After a Period of Detraining,\\\” and was co-authored by Dr. Saif Rashid Ghanim, Assist. Lect. Ammar Fares Attia, and Assist. Lect. Ahmed Mahmoud Mahdi.

The team aimed, through their research, to highlight the importance of genetic factors in determining individuals\\\’ responses to training programs, by analyzing a set of physical and physiological variables such as: weight, fat percentage, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength, flexibility, and heart rate recovery, using advanced statistical methods.

The study\\\’s results showed clear differences in training response depending on genetic patterns, as carriers of the (TT) genotype achieved the best results in improving physical performance and weight loss compared to carriers of other genotypes.

On another note, this study confirms the importance of employing genetic analysis in developing customized training programs that contribute to improving the efficiency of athletic performance, especially for obese athletes, thereby enhancing the quality of scientific research in the field of sports sciences.
