A Faculty Member at Samarra University Publishes a Book on the Turkish Position Toward the Palestinian Cause

Dr. (Badr Lafta Najm), a faculty member at the College of Education for Human Sciences at Samarra University, has published a scientific book titled: \”The Position of the Turkish Government Toward the Palestinian Cause (1993–2007),\” issued by Dar Retaj for Printing, Publishing, and Distribution. In it, he addressed the shifts in Turkish policy toward the Palestinian cause during a pivotal stage in the region\’s history.

The author analyzed the nature of the shift in the Turkish position, which moved from the role of a (quiet mediator) to adopting a clearer discourse in support of Palestinian rights. He also tracked the impact of the 1993 Oslo Accords and the profound political changes that followed.

In the same context, Badr presented the repercussions of the outbreak of the Second Palestinian Intifada in 2000 and the accompanying escalation of Turkish positions critical of Israeli practices. He later highlighted a new phase with the rise of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in 2002.

The book concluded with the events of 2006, which saw the peak of this transformation when Ankara received a delegation from the Hamas movement after its election victory—a step that reflected a different political orientation. This was alongside Turkey\’s endeavor to play an active regional role in supporting Palestinian demands and rejecting policies of blockade and settlement.

For its part, the Department of Media and Government Communication congratulates Dr. Badr Lafta Najm (Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs at the College of Education for Human Sciences) on his new scientific output, which is considered a scientific addition to the library of modern history, wishing him continued success in his scientific and academic career.
