The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences organizes a seminar on developing students’ critical thinking
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Samarra, organized a scientific seminar entitled: “Developing Students’ Critical Thinking and Its Role in Promoting Conscious Learning and Building a Balanced Personality.”
The seminar was presented by Dr. Abbas Adnan Abbas, Assistant Lecturer Maha Nouri Naseef, and Dr. Bahaa Haider Mohammed. They highlighted the importance of developing critical thinking skills as a fundamental pillar of modern educational systems, due to their role in enabling students to analyze and evaluate information in a scientific and informed manner, away from traditional rote-learning methods.
The speakers explained that critical thinking contributes to enhancing students’ abilities to make sound decisions and solve problems they encounter in their academic and personal lives. It also strengthens skills in dialogue, discussion, and expressing opinions within a stimulating educational environment.
In conclusion, the lecturers emphasized the importance of the role of educational institutions and teaching staff in providing a supportive learning environment based on positive interaction, which fosters the development of a balanced personality capable of keeping pace with the demands of the modern era and adapting to its various changes.
