Two Faculty Members from the College of Islamic Sciences Publish a New Scholarly Work in Classical Arabic Poetry

As part of the ongoing academic and intellectual activity at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Samarra, two faculty members—Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Dr. Kamal Abdul-Fattah Hassan, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Shihab—have published a new scholarly book titled “Inshirah al-Sadr: Selected Poems and Verses,” marking a valuable addition to Arabic literature and specialized literary studies.

This publication represents a rigorous academic effort in analyzing poetic texts and exploring their aesthetic and semantic dimensions. The authors successfully aligned the title with the content, presenting selected texts that convey joy, delight, and emotional openness, offering readers broad imaginative horizons and revealing the depth of imagery and structural cohesion within the chosen works.

The book addresses the classical romantic trend in the works of ten poets, providing a scholarly treatment that seeks to establish love poetry (ghazal) as an independent poetic theme rather than a subsidiary one, highlighting it as a dominant and pure element in classical Arabic poetic experience through a conscious critical perspective.

This work stands as a product of the college’s research activity, reflecting the active contribution of its faculty in authorship, editing, and humanities research, in line with the college’s mission to support solid academic output and promote scholarly research.
