The College of Agriculture at Samarra University Organizes a Scientific Lecture on the Use of Renewable Energy in Supporting Agricultural Production
As part of its efforts to support extension activities aimed at developing the agricultural sector and promoting the use of modern technologies, Dr. Mona Ayed Yousef, Head of the Food Science Department at the College of Agriculture, Samarra University, delivered a scientific lecture entitled “Investing in Renewable Energy in Agriculture to Reduce Costs and Increase Production.” This lecture was part of an extension program to disseminate seeds of strategic crops that are tolerant to salinity and drought using modern irrigation methods.
The lecture addressed the importance of utilizing renewable energy sources in the agricultural sector and their role in reducing production costs and improving the efficiency of agricultural operations, as well as their contribution to achieving environmental sustainability and supporting food security.
The lecture also highlighted the possibility of using clean energy technologies to operate modern irrigation systems and reduce resource consumption, thus contributing to addressing environmental and climatic challenges, particularly those related to water scarcity and rising temperatures.
Dr. Ayed emphasized the importance of keeping pace with modern scientific and technological developments in the agricultural field, noting that adopting sustainable solutions represents a crucial step towards developing agricultural production and achieving the optimal use of natural resources. The lecture was attended by a number of specialists and those interested in agricultural affairs, along with representatives from agricultural and extension agencies, as part of efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation and exchange expertise to serve the development of the agricultural sector in the governorate.
