Outstanding Scientific Achievement: Two Faculty Members at the College of Engineering Publish Innovative Research in a Japanese Journal Indexed within Scopus Databases
Dr. Yahya Tariq Hussein and Assistant Lecturer Iman Adel Mahmoud, faculty members in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Samarra, have achieved a distinguished scientific milestone by publishing their research paper titled \\\”A Hybrid AI-driven Predictive Adaptive Routing Framework Using Reinforcement Learning and SDN for Intelligent Network Optimization\\\”. The paper was published in the prestigious Japanese international journal, (International Journal of Intelligent Engineering and System), which is indexed within the global Scopus databases in the second quartile (Q2) with a citation impact factor of 3.2.
The study provided an innovative solution to the shortcomings of traditional routing protocols and their inability to handle large-scale dynamic networks, coinciding with the rapid boom in digital communications and cloud computing, particularly Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The researchers proposed an intelligent routing system based on artificial intelligence techniques, uniquely integrating proactive traffic prediction, adaptive routing via reinforcement learning algorithms, and centralized control using Software-Defined Networking (SDN). This integration enables the system to analyze network status in real time, predict bottlenecks before they occur, and dynamically select optimal alternative paths for load balancing.
Furthermore, the results of simulations and rigorous testing demonstrated a remarkable improvement and a significant difference in overall network performance. This was reflected in minimizing latency to lowest levels, increasing throughput, raising the efficiency of data packet delivery while reducing packet loss, alongside proving the model\\\\\\\’s robustness and high capacity for adaptation and generalization across diverse network environments, which confirms its readiness to serve as a pioneering practical solution in managing and operating future smart networks.
