The Department of Creed and Islamic Thought at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Samarra, discussed the PhD dissertation submitted by researcher Alia Ghanem Faleh, entitled: “Sharh Al-Fa’idah Al-Kubra Al-Sulamaniyyah on Al-Siraj Al-Rumi Al-Uthmani, Known as Buyukhisari Zadeh (d. after 1208 AH), from the Beginning of the Book to the End of Folio (51), up to the Statement: ‘An Indication to His Lord with His Heart, Not with His Eyes’ – Study, Verification, and Commentary.”

Research Abstract

The dissertation examined the book “Aqd Al-Jawhar fi Sharh Al-Fiqh Al-Akbar” by Sheikh Suleiman Talib Al-Salahi, considering it one of the educational theological commentaries that sought to explain Al-Fiqh Al-Akbar by Imam Abu Hanifa. The study highlighted the author’s methodology, characterized by clarity and moderation, and his reliance on both textual and rational evidence in explaining doctrinal issues such as faith, divine attributes, predestination, and prophethood.

The dissertation also discussed the author’s role in responding to sectarian views and misconceptions, while demonstrating the importance of the book in connecting classical theological heritage with contemporary realities through an accessible scholarly approach. This makes the work an important model for preserving Sunni creed and renewing moderate theological discourse.

The study aimed to verify and present Aqd Al-Jawhar fi Sharh Al-Fiqh Al-Akbar according to rigorous academic standards, to clarify the author’s methodology in explaining and simplifying doctrinal issues for learners, and to highlight the role of theological commentaries in preserving and transmitting Islamic heritage across generations.
