The Department of History discussed a master’s thesis in Islamic History

The Department of History at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Samarra, discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “The Region of Balochistan and Its Civilizational Role from the Arab-Islamic Conquest to the End of the Abbasid Era,” submitted by the student Muhannad Khudhur ‘Uqla.

In his thesis, the researcher aimed to highlight the importance of this region and to shed light on the scientific contributions that enriched Islamic civilization from the early Arab-Islamic conquest through the Abbasid period.

The study examined the significance of Balochistan by addressing its geographical location and the origin of its name, as well as discussing the claim of Arab identity of the Baloch through Yemeni migrations. It also explored the region’s economic aspects, including agriculture and its main crops, in addition to livestock, industry, and trade.

Furthermore, the thesis addressed the social dimension of the region by highlighting its customs, traditions, festivals, and social occasions, as well as the role of intellectual and scholarly life there.

Finally, the study adopted the descriptive historical method, focusing on clarifying concepts, verifying historical texts, and identifying key figures, places, and terminology.
