Human Rights Unit at the College of Physical Education Organizes a Workshop on Combating Drug Abuse
The Human Rights Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a workshop entitled \”World Day Against Drug Abuse\”, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Younis Khalaf, with the aim of raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and their negative impacts on individuals and society.
During the workshop, the lecturer provided an overview of drugs and their various types, discussed the factors that drive some individuals toward drug use, and highlighted the health, psychological, social, and economic consequences of addiction. The workshop also emphasized the importance of awareness and prevention as key strategies for reducing the spread of this serious phenomenon.
Mr. Khalaf stressed the importance of cooperation among families, educational institutions, security agencies, and the media in combating drug abuse. He also highlighted the need to enhance community awareness among young people and encourage them to invest their free time in meaningful sports and cultural activities.
In conclusion, this workshop was part of the awareness programs implemented by the Human Rights Unit at the College, in line with its role in promoting social awareness and reinforcing positive values that contribute to protecting youth and building a more informed and secure society.
