The Department of Qur\’anic Sciences and Islamic Education Discusses a Master\’s Thesis on Doctrinal Issues in the Gospel of the Didache

The Department of Qur\’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Samarra, discussed a Master\’s thesis entitled \”Doctrinal Issues in the Gospel of the Didache and the Islamic and Christian Perspectives on Them,\” submitted by the student Rana Muzahim Habib.

The study aimed to examine the doctrinal issues presented in the Gospel of the Didache, analyze its theological content, and clarify the perspectives of both Islamic and Christian thought regarding these issues. It also sought to highlight the significance of this text in tracing the development of early Christian doctrine.

The study concluded that the Gospel of the Didache is one of the earliest Christian writings, with its composition generally dated to approximately 50–70 AD. Although it was not included in the books of the New Testament, it remains an important source for the study of early Christian thought.

In conclusion, the researcher explained that the Gospel of the Didache contains a number of doctrinal issues related to theology, divine decree and predestination, and the Hereafter. She noted that some of its teachings reflect a monotheistic character that differs from the Trinitarian formulations which became more explicit in later periods. This gives the text particular importance in comparative theological studies and in Islamic–Christian dialogue. She further emphasized that the Didache contributes to a deeper understanding of the development of doctrinal concepts and the intellectual transformations that characterized the early Christian centuries.
