Lecturer Hassan Yahya Farhan Receives a Doctorate after Defending It at the College of Education
Lecturer Hassan Yahya Farhan, a faculty member in the College of Arts at the University of Samarra, received his doctorate after defending his dissertation in the Department of History at the College of Education.
Yahya presented his dissertation, titled “Religious Roles in the Late Abbasid Era and Their Impact on Public Life, 447-656 AH / 1055-1258 AD,” on Wednesday, October 23, in one of the college halls.
In his dissertation, the researcher aimed to focus on the various types of religious roles, particularly the roles of the pilgrimage commander, elder leadership, heads of religious institutions, preachers, and prayer leaders. Additionally, the study explored the contributions of these religious roles in the political and social spheres.
In this context, the lecturer reached several key conclusions, most notably the importance of these roles and the support they provided to the Abbasid Caliphate. Furthermore, the roles contributed to protecting pilgrimage caravans from surrounding dangers and involved figures who turned political situations in favor of the caliphate. These roles also provided services to the Abbasid community, including food distribution, road construction, and the writing of books for religious institutions.
