Lecturer at University of Samarra Publishes Scientific Research in Scopus Database
Dr. Yasmin Hameed Jasim, a lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences at the University of Samarra, published a scientific paper in the journal “Clinical and Translational Oncology” (Springer Publishing House), which is classified within the Second Quartile (Q2) in the Scopus database.
The study, titled “Predictive evaluation of circulating tumor DNA in blood as a biomarker for recurrence of colorectal cancer after surgery,” investigated the role of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a biomarker for predicting the recurrence of colorectal cancer after surgery. Following a systematic review that included 2,259 records, 11 studies were analyzed.
The study results showed that patients who tested ctDNA positive post-surgery had a significantly higher probability of disease recurrence compared to patients with ctDNA negative results, with a risk ratio of more than double.
The effectiveness of ctDNA was also confirmed across all stages of the disease (especially I–III) and using various detection techniques such as ddPCR and NGS.
In turn, the Department of Media and Governmental Communication at the Rectorship of the University of Samarra congratulates the lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences on her new scientific achievement, wishing her continued success in her academic career.
