A Faculty Member from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Publishes a Scientific Research Paper in an International Journal in Indonesia
Assistant Lecturer Idrees Saad Mahmood, a faculty member at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a scientific research paper in Sportive: Journal of Physical Education, Sport and Recreation, an international journal published in Indonesia.
The research is entitled:
\”Effects of Resistance Training Periodization on Power Output and Sprint Performance in Track Athletes.\”
The study aimed to examine the effects of resistance training periodization on improving muscular power in track athletes, investigate the impact of the training programme on sprint performance over 10 m and 30 m distances, evaluate changes in strength, speed, and mechanical power indicators resulting from the programme, and provide scientific evidence to assist coaches in designing more effective training programmes to enhance sprint performance.
The study involved 20 track athletes who completed a structured eight-week training programme based on a gradual progression from maximal strength development to explosive strength training. Several physical and mechanical performance indicators were measured before and after the intervention.
The findings revealed significant improvements in muscular power, sprint speed, and overall performance efficiency, confirming the effectiveness of periodised resistance training in enhancing physical fitness and athletic achievement among track athletes
