Iraq and Qatar agree on scientific and academic cooperation between the universities of the two countries

 

Iraq and Qatar agreed on academic cooperation between the universities of the two countries in the field of scientific research and the knowledge investment in medical and engineering disciplines.

This came during the joint meeting that included the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul-Saheb, and the Qatari Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Wahid Al-Hammadi, through a closed electronic circuit, where the two sides reviewed paths to accelerate steps to activate the executive program of the Memorandum of Cultural, Scientific and Educational Cooperation between the two governments of the Republic of Iraq And the State of Qatar in the field of higher education and scientific research.

The two parties discussed the proposed cooperation mechanisms at the level of joint scientific research, twinning programs between Iraqi and Qatari universities, and the necessary support possibilities for establishing multidisciplinary central laboratories and crystallizing coordination climates in the university classification field, the scholarship file, visiting professor, and joint-supervision in graduate studies.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, expressed the readiness of the Iraqi academic institution to formulate an understanding horizon and coordination to establish the Iraqi Qatari University in Iraq, invest in the fields of scientific research, and push towards smart-university cities, taking into account the post-pandemic conditions.

For his part, the Qatari Minister of Education and Higher Education Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi appreciated the keenness of Iraq and its academic scientific institutions to develop the level of cooperation between the two countries, welcomed the proposal to form joint working groups to implement the implementation of the agreements between the two countries within the appropriate time limits.
In conclusion, the two sides presented the study programs approved in the two countries for the academic year 2021/2020, the mechanisms of integrated education in light of the Corona pandemic, and the plans to ensure university examinations and take into account preventive measures.
