The impact of the salinity problem on agricultural lands in Salah al-Din Governorate, presented in a scientific symposium

 

The Department of Geography at the College of Education at Samarra University presented a scientific symposium on “The problem of salinity and its impact on agricultural lands in Salah al-Din Governorate” on Thursday, April 7, 2022, in the department hall.
The symposium delivered by Prof. Dr. Abdul-Karim Rashid – the professor – in the department, dealt with the dangers of this problem on agricultural lands in the districts of the governorate and ways to address them, especially after this problem led to the colonization of the soil, Samarra, Balad, Dhuluiya and Dujail, as well as For its dangerous effects in decreasing yield rates for crops. The symposium concluded that the most important causes of soil salinization are the traditional irrigation methods and the lack of drainage within the irrigation projects.
