Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Saleh Hussein presented a seminar for the State Company for the Pharmaceutical Industry SDI

Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Saleh Hussein – professor- in the Department of Chemistry, College of Education / the University of Samarra, gave an in-person scientific symposium on “Diagnosing Pharmaceutical Compounds by Spectral Methods.
The symposium included the possibility of accurately and quickly diagnosing and determining the structures of the organic drug through spectral analysis, which depends on the absorption of electromagnetic rays by the molecules of the organic medicinal substance by clarifying the meaning of spectral decomposition, and its components.
1- Ultraviolet/Visible (UV/Vis) spectroscopy.
2- Infrared (IR) spectroscopy: (types of functional groups)
3- Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy
(Structure of carbon-carbon and carbon-hydrogen atoms).
The symposium focused on some spectra of well-known drug compounds such as paracetamol, aspirin, betamethasone, and dexamethasone and distinguished them spectroscopically.
The lecturer recommended strengthening joint scientific cooperation between the University of Samarra and the State Company for the Pharmaceutical Industry (SDI).
