Workshop at the College of Engineering Explains Mechanisms for Confronting Extremist Ideology

The College of Engineering at Samarra University organized a workshop titled “Extremist Ideology: Its Roots and Methods of Confrontation within the University Environment,” presented by Assist. Lect. (Bara’ Arhim Jassim), attended by college staff and students.

(Bara’) emphasized in her workshop the deconstruction of the structure of extremist thought, by focusing on its historical and social roots and the psychological reasons leading to the adoption of exclusionary tendencies.

In the same context, the workshop presenter explained methods to reduce this phenomenon, including activating tools of constructive critical thinking among university students; making them capable of distinguishing destructive ideas and refuting them in a scientific and logical manner.

The workshop concluded by affirming the importance of building a safe academic environment based on a culture of tolerance, openness, and respect for intellectual diversity, while emphasizing meaningful dialogue and acceptance of others as the two fundamental pillars in fortifying the university personality and building a conscious generation that contributes to the stability of the academic and national society, far from extremism and fanaticism.
