Assoc. Prof. Dr. (Mohammed Sharif Mohammed), a lecturer at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a scientific research paper in the journal (Nanoscience and Nanotechnology), issued by Begell House Inc., and classified in the second quartile (Q2) in the Scopus database.
The research is titled \”Preparation and Characterization of Copper Oxide Thin Films.\” In it, he aimed to prepare thin films of copper oxide (CuO) on glass substrates for use as gas sensors, using the DC reactive sputtering technique, in addition to analyzing the morphology of the films and their surface roughness using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
The results of the study showed that copper oxide films possess a polycrystalline structure with a preferred orientation along the (110) plane, according to the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Also, scanning electron microscope images revealed the presence of homogeneously distributed nanoparticles on the surface of the films, which enhances their efficiency in sensing and electronic applications.
