Title: Samarra University Researchers Publish Collaborative Book on Drugs and Addiction

A group of researchers from Samarra University have published a collaborative book through “Nashiroun” Electronic Publishing House in March, titled “Drugs and Addiction: Analytical and Applied Studies.”

The book was co-authored by Assistant Professor Dr. Bakr Abdul Majid Muhammad from the College of Arts, Dr. Faten Abdul Salam Mazal and Dr. Hanan Mahmoud Abdul Rahim from the College of Education, and Assistant Lecturer Haidar Fuad Fawzi from the College of Law.

In their book, the researchers address the issue of drugs and addiction from a comprehensive perspective, covering the health, psychological, social, and economic impacts of this phenomenon, which is considered one of the most serious challenges facing modern societies due to its effects on social stability.

The book also explores the impact of addiction on the family, as the core unit of society. It highlights how addiction disrupts family stability, increases rates of violence, and contributes to a decline in children’s educational performance. Additionally, it discusses the link between drug use and crime, noting the rise in crime rates associated with substance abuse.

On another front, the authors examine the geopolitical dimensions of drug use, including its use as a tool of colonialism and economic control, referencing historical examples such as the Opium Wars in China.

The book aims to offer an integrated analytical vision of the causes of addiction and the factors contributing to its spread, while also proposing solutions to combat it and protect individuals and societies from its dangers.

The Media and Government Communication Department at the Presidency of Samarra University congratulated the researchers on their scientific achievement and wished them continued success in their academic and research endeavors.
