The College of Agriculture at Samarra University organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Dangers and Dimensions of Extremist Ideology.” The seminar aimed to highlight the dimensions of this phenomenon and its negative effects on individuals and society, as well as to explain ways to prevent it and promote the values of dialogue and tolerance.

The seminar addressed the dimensions of extremist ideology on society, focusing on the groups most targeted by it, particularly youth and adolescents. It also discussed the impact of economic conditions such as poverty and unemployment on increasing susceptibility to recruitment by extremist groups. The seminar explained how this ideology affects individual behavior and societal stability, and the resulting serious psychological, social, and security consequences.

The seminar also emphasized the importance of promoting dialogue and tolerance and encouraging understanding between different religions and cultures. Furthermore, it presented preventative strategies to help identify and confront extremist ideas, support individuals at risk of extremism or recovering from it, and highlight the role of society and its various institutions—families, schools, and civil society organizations—in curbing the spread of this phenomenon.

The seminar was presented by Assistant Teacher Ola Emad Mohammed Jawad, who emphasized the importance of early community awareness as the first line of defense against extremist ideology and in building a cohesive and safe society.
